Devika Chotoe (1992) (zij/haar) is een maker, onderzoeker en schrijver. Als maker van tentoonstellingen, performances, (fysiek) theater en culturele programma’s houd zij zich bezig met de vraag hoe kunst kan bijdragen aan sociaal-maatschappelijke verandering en verschil kan overbruggen. Persoonlijke en collectieve heling, de emancipatie van de verbeelding en het belichamen van verandering zijn daarin haar grootste drijfveren. Middels werken met het lichaam en met tekst als haar voornaamste maakpraktijken, maakt Chotoe kunst vanuit queer en dekoloniale referentiekaders.

Chotoe is in 2022 afgestudeerd aan de School for New Dance Development (AHK) en is momenteel verbonden als onderzoeker bij If I Can’t Dance I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution. Daarnaast schrijft ze voor de Theaterkrant en Filmkrant. 

Bio

Devika Chotoe (1992) (she/her) is a maker, researcher and writer. As a maker of exhibitions, performances, (physical) theatre and cultural programs, she is concerned with the question of how art can contribute to societal change and to the bridging of difference. The aim being self and collective healing, emancipating the imagination and embodying change. Implementing body-based and text-based practices, she mainly creates art within queer and decolonial frameworks. 

Chotoe graduated from the School for New Dance Development (AHK) in 2022 and currently holds the position of research fellow at If I Can’t Dance I Don’t Want To Be Part Of Your Revolution. She also writes for the Theaterkrant and Filmkrant.
